The artificial Bygholm lake was layed out in 1918 and is beautifully situated with beech wood close to the lakeside. Around the lake there is a 13 km long path which is frequently used for walk or run by the people in Horsens. Often you can see anglers along the lakeside or in small boats on the lake.
In Bygholm forest you find the so-called Bygholm Track which consists of two marked routes of 1,9 km and 9,4 km which take you around the wood and pass many historical places. In the wood there is an entire system of bridle paths marked with red horseshoes and you can often meet riders. In 1981 the military world championships were held in this wood, and you can still see remains of this event.
On the lake’s northern side, close to the water, you find the small campsite Bygholm Sø Camping. At the same place there is a nice restaurant called Kystens Perle, which is open all summer.Brochures with information about paths and the area in general you can get at VISITHORSENS.
